This is what we’ve been waiting for: organically certified, scientifically formulated and tested, corn & soy free layer mash that is grown less than 2 hours away! This new feed is sold by in bulk and in a “Bucket Club” where you can purchase a bucket, refill it, and save money.

We carry a complete selection of layer feeds, chick feeds, scratch grains, grit and oyster shell for poultry. In addition, we carry rabbit, pig and goat feed. See our FAQ section for info on what to feed at different stages of your chickens’ lives.
Our custom milled chicken feed contains only the highest-quality ingredients for optimum health and egg production.
We’ve worked with experienced northwest millers to formulate a unique food that is health promoting and has a consistent recipe. Because the food is mostly regionally grown and milled, it travels many fewer miles to get to your hens. This means a smaller carbon footprint and fresher, longer lasting food.
We will also carry quality organic feeds from Payback for our customers who prefer it and to ensure a constant supply of organic feed.
Portland Layer 17% (not organic)
Locally milled and almost entirely regionally sourced, this layer pellet has over 17% protein and balanced amino acids. I feed this to my hens. Because of the wheat content, this pellet will not fall-apart like other feeds.
Ingredients: Wheat, Corn, Soy Meal (Midwest), Alfalfa Meal, Oats, Fish Meal, Flax Meal, Kelp, Limestone, Vitamins & Minerals.

ORGANIC CASCADE LAYER 16% Layer Mash
Ingredients: Peas, triticale, wheat, barley, aragonite, crab meal, fish meal (60%), poultry nutri-balancers, canola oil, enzymes.

Many of us are trying to eat healthy foods grown close to home - that’s a big part of the reason we keep chickens in our yards. Unfortunately, even the best organic chicken feeds available now contain ingredients grown thousands of miles away. In 2008 we introduced Portland Layer to provide a premium, mostly regionally grown feed choice for your hens. Now, we are pleased to take it to the next level with our new organic Cascade Layer. Here are a few reasons we are so excited about it:
1) It is grown locally just on the other side of Mt. Hood*. This reduced travel time not only helps limit carbon emissions and conserve resources, but it also allows us to provide a consistently fresh product.
2) It’s organically grown and milled on a 5th generation family farm because careful stewardship of the land is important both for the planet and your family’s health.
3) It’s corn and soy free because these common feed ingredients are not well adapted to growing in this region, and because some customers have allergies, dietary restrictions, or other political/ethical concerns.
4) Its unique recipe has been developed by animal nutritionists to ensure quality and digestibility. It also contains probiotics and micronutrients optimize flock health and discourage disease.
5) Primary ingredients include peas, wheat, fish meal, and crab meal. It also contains important enzymes to aid in digestion of the grains and legumes. Complete ingredients are listed on the feed buckets.
6) We’re pleased to introduce the “Cascade Layer Bucket Club” to reduce bag waste. Purchase a special 4 gallon Cascade Layer bucket and exchange for a full one when it’s empty, all for the same low price per pound you pay for a full 50 lb. bag (bags available soon). You can fill other buckets or bags at our regular bulk price.
* Some minor ingredients are domestically sourced but not local. This year’s organic peas are from Montana until our farmer/miller plants his own crop next season.
